Loses via submission in Octagon debut
Yandiev was defeated by Jordan Johnson via submission (side choke) at 0:42 of Round 2 at UFC Moscow on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Yandiev came to the UFC with a 9-0 record. However, this was his first fight in three years. All of his prior victories came in the first round. "Beard" was at a significant size disadvantage to Johnson. He got caught with a short uppercut early and then had to deal with the larger fighter on top of him for the remainder of the round. Yandiev absorbed a lot of strikes and was almost submitted by a rear-naked choke towards the end of the round. There was significant swelling on his face after the round. Once the second round started it was a quick takedown and then Yandiev was forced to tap to a side choke which Johnson finished from half guard.

Will make UFC debut in Moscow
Yandiev will make his UFC debut Krzysztof Jotko in a middleweight matchup at UFC Moscow on Sept. 15, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Yandiev is 9-0 as a professional, with M-1 Global being the most well-known promotion he has competed for. Of those nine wins, "Beard" has submitted his opponent six times, with five of them coming via choke. That might be a difficult path to victory against Jotko, who has only been submitted once in 23 fights, and generally avoids the mat by using his 87 percent takedown defense. Jotko has much more experience under the bright lights of the UFC, but has dropped three consecutive fights. That experience should make Jotko the betting favorite, but some fighters have difficulty rebounding from a streak like that, and Yandiev will surely look to take advantage.
