Gane will take on Sergey Spivac in a heavyweight fight at a UFC event in Paris on Sept. 2, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.

Gane is coming off a highly disappointing result in a title fight against Jon Jones, losing in the first round via guillotine choke. It was just the fighter's second pro loss of his career, but he'll be desperate for a win after such a poor showing his last time out. His opponent Spivac has won three straight fights. To emerge successful here, Gane will have to show improvements in his grappling and takedown defense, which were his downfalls in his recent losses. He'll certainly be tested against Spivac, a fighter who averages more than five takedowns per 15 minutes of fight time in the UFC.

ANALYSIS
What a disaster. In the biggest fight of his career, in the main event of a pay-per-view, against arguably the greatest of all time, Gane barely lasted two minutes. He gave up a shockingly easy takedown and was choked out shortly thereafter. The assumption was that if Gane was to have issues, it would be with Jones' grappling, but few could have seen him being this non-competitive. There's not a heck of a lot to breakdown from a technical standpoint. It's important to remember Gane only has 13 professional fights under his belt. His best days may theoretically be ahead of him given his inexperience, but at age 33, he better get back into the Octagon sooner rather than later if he hopes to make another run at the top.

Headlining the first ever event in his native France, Gane had to work for his victory, as he was knocked down by Tuivasa in Round 2 and seemingly in danger of being stopped. He somehow battled through it and eventually used his overwhelming speed and technical edge to pound his opponent, particularly to the body. Tuivasa could simply take no more punishment in the latter stages of Round 4. Gane continues to show a massive amount of skill and poise for a fighter who hasn't been a professional for all that long. He should remain firmly in the title mix at heavyweight for many years to come. Additionally, he'll take home an extra $50,000 after this entertaining main event was awarded Fight of the Night honors.
