Removed from UFC roster
BantamweightUFC
June 5, 2023
Batgerel was removed from the UFC roster Monday, according to MMAFighting.com.
ANALYSIS
Batgerel completed his latest UFC contract, and the promotion opted not to re-sign him. Despite losing his UFC debut to Alateng Heili, Batgerel began his promotion career well, with a finish in each of his next three fights. That was until Chris Gutierrez finished him with a back fist and elbows, beginning a three-fight skid that led to his release Monday.

Losing streak hits three
BantamweightUFC
April 23, 2023
Batgerel lost to Brady Hiestand via TKO (punches) at 4:21 of Round 3 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
This was a truly disastrous loss for Batgerel in a fight in which he was 39 seconds from winning. Danaa was by no means in full control throughout, but he was consistently getting the better of Hiestand on the feet, in addition to being responsible for the biggest moment of the fight with a Round 2 knockdown. It all fell apart late in Round 3, however, when Hiestand landed a takedown and Batgerel appeared to essentially quit. He absorbed countless unanswered strikes which forced referee Jerin Valel to step in. Riding a three-fight losing streak dating back to March 2022, there's a good chance the UFC will decide to move on.
Matched against Brady Hiestand

Batgerel will take on Brady Hiestand on April 22, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Batgerel has been a streaky fighter of late. In 2020 and 2021, he won three consecutive fights, all in the first round, but he lost both of his 2022 matchups. He most recently fell by unanimous decision to Kyung Ho Kang. Hiestand has a limited UFC track record, losing his debut before beating Fernando Garcia by unanimous decision in his most recent fight.
Drops decision at UFC 275

Batgerel lost to Kyung Ho Kang via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC 275 on Saturday in Singapore.
ANALYSIS
It was an underwhelming effort from Batgerel in a fight which began as a pick 'em. He started with a flurry, beating Kang to the punch repeatedly in the opening frame, but Batgerel's pace and striking defense suffered considerably as the bout progressed. He had no answers for the jab of Kang, which is highly concerning considering his opponent is known as primarily a submission specialist. Batgerel picked up three straight knockout victories on the heels of a unanimous decision defeat to Heili Alateng in his UFC debut in August 2019, but he's dropped back-to-back fights since.
Filling in at UFC 275
BantamweightUFC
May 1, 2022
Batgerel (eye) will take on Kyung Ho Kang in a bantamweight matchup at UFC 275 on June 11, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Batgerel suffered an eye injury that led to a lengthy medical suspension following his loss to Chris Gutierrez in March, but he's presumably received the necessary clearance from an ophthalmologist in order to clear this booking. He'll be filling in for Saimon Oliveira, who withdrew Thursday night due to undisclosed reasons. Both fighters find themselves in similar circumstances entering this bout, as each had a three-fight winning streak snapped in their most recent bout. Batgerel will be giving up a few inches in both height and reach to his opponent here. Furthermore, Batgerel tends to do his best work in the standup, while Kang tends to mix in wrestling more often.
Picks up medical suspension

Batgerel has been given an indefinite medical suspension, MMAJunkie reports.
ANALYSIS
Batgerel will need to be cleared by an ophthalmologist to take the Octagon again anytime soon. He suffered a TKO defeat to Chris Gutierrez last Saturday.
