Slow start again leads to defeat
FlyweightUFC
March 13, 2021
Kape lost to Matheus Nicolau via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Kape, a highly hyped prospect upon his UFC arrival, has now dropped back-to-back decisions to begin his company run. He looked better here than in his maiden voyage, but Kape's inactivity over the course of Round 1 likely cost him the fight. Of course, Kape probably deserved to win regardless after an excellent Round 2 and fairly solid Round 3. Kape has a bunch of power and is ridiculously talented, but he's now 4-5 in his past nine fights and that's an ugly statistic no matter how you look at it. Kape needs to do whatever is necessary to ensure his emerges victorious his next time out.

Drops close one in company debut
FlyweightUFC
February 6, 2021
Kape lost to Alexandre Pantoja via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 27-30) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Kape was visibly upset when ring announcer Bruce Buffer read the decision, but he has no one to blame for the result but himself. While both Kape and Pantoja appeared to be virtually dead even in terms of ability, it was Pantoja who won this fight with volume. Perhaps it was the result of nothing more than a competitor battling nerves in his first fight with the company, but Kape appeared to be limiting Pantoja's ability to shoot for the takedown at all costs, and that cost him in terms of aggressiveness. Kape is just 27 years old and showed he could hang with one of the division's best fighters, so the night wasn't a total loss. Kape will be back in the near future.
