Philipe Lins

Secures fourth straight win
Light HeavyweightUFC
March 9, 2024
Lins defeated Ion Cutelaba via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC 299 on Saturday in Miami.
ANALYSIS
Credit Lins and his team for coming up with a strong game plan and going out and implementing it. He spent the vast majority of a close Round 1 damaging Cutelaba with leg kicks. That left his opponent hobbled the remainder of the fight, allowing Philipe to land a takedown and plenty of control time over the course of each of the final two rounds. A long time member of both the Bellator and PFL rosters, Lins will be 39 years of age this coming August. He's won four in a row dating back to April 2022, but the UFC has yet to test him with a quality opponent. He deserves one his next time out.

Fight off due to medical issue
Light HeavyweightUFC
October 7, 2023
Lins will no longer fight Ion Cutelaba at UFC Vegas 80 due to an unspecified medical issue, according to the UFC's official X.com page
ANALYSIS
It's not exactly clear what went wrong, but this is the second time Lins has had to pull out of a fight in the last calendar year. Lins has fought at heavyweight in his career, and it may be the case that his body is no longer handling the cut down to 205 pounds. As this announcement was made mid-broadcast, no alternate fighter was available to fill in.

Lins is set to face off against Ion Cutelaba at UFC Vegas 80 on Oct. 7, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports
ANALYSIS
Lins, who most recently defeated Maxim Grishin at UFC Vegas 74, has drawn Ion Cutelaba for his next bout. The 38-year-old Brazilian fighter will look to keep his 3-fight winning streak alive in October.
Picks up third straight win
Light HeavyweightUFC
June 3, 2023
Lins defeated Maxim Grishin via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27) at UFC on ESPN 46 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Fresh off a 49-second knockout win over Ovince Saint-Preux this past February, Lins had to work considerably harder in this one, although the result was never in doubt. The Brazilian managed to rack up 8:24 worth of control time despite the fact he landed just 1-of-3 takedown attempts. That, combined with Grishin's inability to land any noteworthy strikes, resulted in a clear-cut decision victory for Lins. The soon-to-be 38-year-old has rebounded nicely from back-to-back losses to begin his UFC run, picking up three straight wins dating back to April 2022.
Booked for UFC Vegas 74
Light HeavyweightUFC
April 28, 2023
Lins will fight Maxim Grishin at UFC Vegas 74 on June 3, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Lins and Grishin were initially set to fight at UFC Vegas 61 on Oct. 1, but the fight was scratched last minute due to a medical issue with Lins. The 37-year-old is coming off a second round KO over Ovince Saint Preux in February and will look to make it three consecutive victories with a win over Grishin in just over a month's time.
Smashes Ovince Saint Preux
Light HeavyweightUFC
February 18, 2023
Lins defeated Ovince Saint Preux via KO (punches) at 0:49 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Lins brings absolutely nothing to the table offensively other than his power, but he's a threat in there if you allow him to throw countless, unanswered strikes, as Saint Preux did in this one. Lins clipped OSP with an early left hook which wobbled his opponent, forced him back up against the fence and essentially ended the fight right there. The Brazilian will be 38 years of age this coming August and has no history of defeating better competition, but he has now rattled off back-to-back victories on the heels of a brief two-fight losing streak to begin his UFC run.
