Struggles continue in Kansas City

Vannata lost to Daniel Zellhuber via unanimous decision (27-29, 28-29, 27-30) at UFC on ESPN 44 on Saturday in Kansas City.
ANALYSIS
Vannata's downfall during his UFC run has been his questionable stand-up defense and his tendency to get hit far too much, and those weaknesses were once again was an issue here. He did a truly exceptional job of surviving Round 1 following a Zellhuber knockdown. Not only did Lando survive, but he probably won Round 2. Unfortunately he couldn't carry that momentum over into the final frame to potentially steal a decision. Vannata has more talent than his 4-7-2 record in 13 UFC bouts would lead you to believe, but with back-to-back losses on his resume and setbacks in four of his last five fights, Lando isn't a lock to receive another fight with the company.
