Smoak signed with the Giants on Tuesday, Jeff Passan of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The 34-year-old has 196 homers at the highest level to his name across his 11-year MLB career. The switch hitter was mostly a fringy first baseman for the majority of that time, but a late-career renaissance saw him hit .270 with 38 homers in 2017 and remain an above-average hitter for two more seasons. The Giants will hope that's still an accurate reflection of his talent level, as his .176/.250/.361 line in 36 games last season was quite disappointing.
