Cavaliers Rally Comes Up Short As Pistons Win
The Detroit Pistons defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers, 109-105, at Little Caesars Arena on Monday evening.

The Pistons (18-40) and the Cavaliers (20-37) are two of the worst teams in the Eastern Conference, but they delivered a surprisingly tight contest Monday that was only decided in the final minutes of the matchup. Detroit got off to an impressive start, however, and they held a 37-22 lead following the first quarter. That would be the only quarter they'd won, though, as the Cavaliers quickly attempted to respond by winning both the second (31-25) and third (23-22) quarters, making it an eight-point game with only 12 minutes left on the contest. The Cavaliers came close and, in fact, the game was tied with less than 45 seconds left on the clock. However, Cleveland's comeback attempt was unsuccessful and the Cavaliers ended losing by a slim four-point margin. Detroit stole the win, but the fact that the Pistons looked outplayed during most of the contest could be a concerning sign for the coaching staff.

Six Detroit players scored in double digits in this one and Saddiq Bey was the leading scorer with 20 points and five rebounds, while Isaiah Stewart notched 18 points, 16 rebounds, three steals and three blocks. Josh Jackson notched 16 points with five boards and four dimes, while Killian Hayes posted 12 points and nine assists in what was one of his best games as a pro thus far. Frank Jackson added 20 points off the bench.

As it has been the case all season long, Collin Sexton and Darius Garland carried Cleveland once again -- while the shooting guard ended with 28 points and seven rebounds, the speedy point guard had 23 points and six dimes. Kevin Love had 15 points and eight rebounds, while Isaiah Hartenstein had 13 points off the bench as well.
