Like it did with Cam Spencer, Connecticut's basketball program is trying to replace the redshirt senior with a top guard in the transfer portal. Mahaney was such a guard, leading St. Mary's (CAL) to great success across multiple seasons by averaging 13.9 points and 2.3 three-pointers made on 40.7/37.5/76.3 shooting splits across his 69 games (60 started) for the Gaels. Mahaney figures to be a part of the Huskies' primary perimeter, especially now that it has been officially depleted with Stephon Castle declaring for the 2024 NBA Draft.
