Shows off scoring ability in loss
GTexas State
January 4, 2024
Benson finished with 19 points (5-8 FG, 4-6 3Pt, 5-5 FT) across 20 minutes in last Saturday's 82-65 loss to James Madison.
ANALYSIS
Benson missed the first 10 games of the year due to eligibility issues after transferring in from Army over the offseason and finally was cleared to play ahead of the team's game versus LeTourneau on Dec. 18. He saw his highest usage of the season thus far against James Madison and wowed with his shooting ability, scoring all 19 of his points in the final 10 minutes of the game. The 6-1 sophomore averaged nearly six three-point attempts last season and has hit that mark in two-of-three games he's played in, making at least half of those shots in the process. His sharpshooting ability will bring some much-needed scoring to the Bobcats' rotation as they get into the thick of conference play.
