Taran Armstrong

Pursuing professional career
GCalifornia Baptist
May 1, 2023
Armstrong is opting to forgo his remaining collegiate eligibility after he agreed Friday with the Australian National Basketball League's Cairns Taipans on a two-year contract, Olgun Uluc of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
After entering the transfer portal earlier in the offseason following two productive seasons at California Baptist, Armstrong drew interest from several schools and narrowed down his list of potential landing spots to four programs: Gonzaga, Xavier, Creighton and Providence. However, with all of those schools having since filled the openings on their 2023-24 roster with higher-profile transfers, Armstrong, a native of Tasmania, decided he was best off returning to the Eastern Hemisphere to begin his professional career rather than exploring other options for college. Over his two seasons at California Baptist, the 6-foot-5 point guard averaged 10.9 points, 5.6 assists, 4.8 rebounds and 0.9 three-pointers in 30.7 minutes per game over 59 appearances (58 starts).
