2023 Fantasy Outlook
Carter should reprise his role as the nickel corner in the stout Jets secondary, with Sauce Gardner and D.J. Reed locked into starting roles on the outside. In 2022, Carter recorded 63 tackles, two interceptions and nine passes defensed. Read Past Outlooks

Nine passes defensed in 2023
Carter finished the 2023 season with 50 tackles (37 solo) and nine passes defensed over 15 games.
ANALYSIS
Carter was among the league's top performing nickel cornerbacks while Sauce Gardner and D.J. Reed patrolled the outside for a Jets secondary that allowed the fewest catches, receiving yards and touchdowns to wide receivers in 2023. While Carter's 50 tackles were a career low, he posted nine passes defensed for a second consecutive season. The 2021 fifth-round draft pick is expected to reprise his role in the slot in the final year of his rookie contract in 2024.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Silver lining for struggling Jets
Carter has been one of the few bright spots in the early part of the season for the 0-3 Jets, Al Iannazzone of Newsday Sports reports. "I really feel like he's exceeded our expectations," defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich said of Carter. "He's done an exceptional job back there. He's a guy that gets consistently better. He has become a real NFL corner and a real NFL nickel. I'm excited about his future. I really am."
ANALYSIS
Carter has been used primarily as the team's nickel corner, but the rookie fifth-round pick out of Duke could see more opportunities on the outside moving forward given the Jets' lack of established cornerback depth. He already has 19 tackles through three weeks, and as long as Carter is being deployed in the nickel role, opposing slot receivers will have a difficult time joining in on the fun while their teammates enjoy facing what once again could be one of the worst teams in the league.

2021 Fantasy Outlook
The second Michael Carter selected by the Jets in the 2021 draft, this Carter is a versatile defender out of Duke who will likely see time at both safety and nickel cornerback. What Carter lacks in size (5-foot-9 and 184 pounds), he makes up for in speed, as the rookie fifth-round pick ran a blistering 4.36 in the 40-yard dash.
