Westbrook Carries Wizards To Win Over Magic
The Washington Wizards defeated the Orlando Magic, 131-116, at Amway Center on Wednesday evening.

The Wizards (18-32) entered this game having dropped seven of their last 10 games, but they delivered a strong performance to get past the Magic (17-34) in a duel between two teams that are clearly going through rebuilding efforts this season -- though both teams have different expectations, and perhaps that was noticeable in this one. Washington jumped out to a 34-33 lead in the first quarter, but they pulled away for good thanks to a dominant effort in the second quarter in which they outscored their rivals by a 39-27 score. Orlando attempted to reduce the differential in the third quarter after winning that 12-minute stretch by a 30-27 score, but that wasn't enough. Washington didn't want any late surprises and won the final quarter by a 31-26 score to run away with the game comfortably. Washington shot 57.6 percent from the field and 52.8 percent from three-point range in the win, while the Magic made 47.3 percent of their shots -- but only a meager 38.7 percent from deep.

Bradley Beal might have led the Wizards in scoring with a 26-point performance that also included five assists, but Russell Westbrook was the undisputed star of the game since he delivered another triple-double -- he posted 23 points, 15 assists and 14 rebounds. Deni Avdija notched 16 points with five rebounds, while Davis Bertans recorded 22 points while shooting 6-for-11 from the field coming off the bench. Robin Lopez also added 19 points.

Six Orlando players scored in double digits, and the team's biggest scoring threat was Terrence Ross -- he finished with 24 points and six rebounds while coming off the bench. Wendell Carter Jr. had 15 points and Michael Carter-Williams registered 13 points, while Cole Anthony mustered 13 points and seven assists in his return. Mo Bamba had 19 points, eight rebounds and two blocks.
