Pelicans Topple Trail Blazers, 102-94
The New Orleans Pelicans defeated the Portland Trail Blazers, 102-94, at Moda Center on Monday night.

The Pelicans (8-23) came into the contest with just three road wins and 14 losses in their previous 15 games, but they managed to set a positive tone early against the Trail Blazers (14-17). New Orleans matched Portland bucket for bucket in the first quarter on the way to a 31-31 deadlock, and they hung right with their hosts again in the second period to head into halftime with only a two-point deficit. The Pelicans then came out of intermission playing well on both ends of the floor, limiting the Blazers to just 38 points in the second half and putting up 48 of their own to clinch the road victory.

Jrue Holiday led the way for the Pelicans with 21 points, adding six rebounds, five assists and one steal. Brandon Ingram posted 19 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and two steals. J.J. Redick poured in 16 points and also furnished two rebounds and one assist. E'Twaun Moore provided 13 points off the bench, while Derrick Favors generated a 12-point, 13-rebound double-double that also included three assists, one steal and one block.

Carmelo Anthony overcame a questionable designation due to a knee issue to pace the Trail Blazers with 23 points, which he complemented with nine rebounds, two assists and one steal. C.J. McCollum delivered 20 points, four rebounds, three assists and one steal. Damian Lillard totaled 18 points, seven assists, three rebounds and two steals. Hassan Whiteside contributed an 11-point, 16-rebound double-double.

The Pelicans remain on the road and next tangle with the Denver Nuggets on Christmas Night, while the Trail Blazers pay a visit to the Utah Jazz on Thursday night.
